Sunny - A sunflower themed, tooled leather collar on a medium brown leather, with your dogs name tooled and painted onto the collar.

More than a dog collar, this is a piece of wearable art.

Each collar is entirely hand carved, hand tooled, hand painted and hand finished in my studio here in New Zealand. No two will ever be identical, and that's exactly how I like it.

Every collar is made to order, specifically for your dog.

The photos you see are an example of this design. Your collar will be handcrafted from scratch once your order is placed, allowing it to be made to your dog's exact measurements and your chosen specifications.

Every collar is built around your dog. Once ordered, i'll contact you so you'll be able to choose:

  • Collar width (the main strap holding the art)
  • Taper width (the front section where the buckle is)
  • Whether you'd like your dog's name added or left plain
  • Paint colour for your dog's name

Getting the perfect fit

Because every collar is made specifically for your dog, I don't work from generic size charts. Measure where the collar will naturally sit using a soft tape measure (or a piece of string that can be measured afterwards), or measure their existing collar. 

This ensures your collar arrives fitting exactly as intended.

Like all Lupine Leather gear, these collars are built to last a lifetime with proper care. But unlike the Heritage Range - which is designed to shrug off years of mud, salt water and hard daily wear - these collars are created as wearable art.

The hand-painted finishes and intricate tooling deserve to be enjoyed, admired and looked after. They'll happily accompany plenty of adventures, but if your dog spends every day charging through blackberry bushes, swimming in the surf or wrestling their mates at the park, the Heritage Range is the better choice for everyday duty.

These collars aren't designed to be replaced every couple of years.

They're made from premium full-grain leather, built using traditional techniques, and intended to age beautifully alongside the dog who wears them. Every mark, every brushstroke and every cut is done by hand, creating a piece that's as individual as your dog.

Please note:
1. As every collar is individually handcrafted, slight variations in carving, painting and leather are part of what makes each piece unique. No two collars will ever be exactly the same.
2. If you have an idea for a design tweak you'd like to discuss, please get in touch before you order. Small changes are accounted for in the standard price, but large or complex design changes will incur an extra fee.
3. These collars take between 10-15 hours to produce, and I only have capacity to make roughly 1 per week. Please understand that the collars will be made on a first in first served basis, and those who are last to purchase may be waiting up to 8 weeks for their collar to be made.

The leather I use is a byproduct of the food industry, not sourced from animals raised specifically for their hides, so choosing leather helps reduce waste while supporting sustainable practices.

Over time, it develops a rich patina that tells the story of its use, giving each piece a unique, personal character. Vegetable-tanned leather also breathes naturally, improving comfort and functionality. With proper care, it can last a lifetime — and when combined with repairability and our lifetime guarantee, it’s a sustainable choice that keeps gear out of landfill and in use for years.

Care

  • Rinse under fresh water after use in the ocean.
  • If your item becomes dirty, simple give it a gentle scrub in warm soapy water, leave to dry in the sun, then thoroughly condition to prevent the leather losing it’s natural oils.
  • Condition regularly using a natural non-toxic leather balm. The newer the item, the more frequently it will need conditioning. Aim for monthly for the first 3 months, then bi-monthly for 6months, then bi-annually. If well conditioned, your items should never dry out or turn brittle and will last a lifetime.

Return Policy

At Lupine Leatherworks, I take great pride in crafting high-quality, personalized dog gear. Because my products are made with care and attention to detail, I offer the following return policy:

Premade items may be returned within 30 days for a full refund, provided the item is in brand new, unused condition. Please note that made-to-order items cannot be returned, as they are specifically customized to your preferences.
